Professor (Emeritus) of Construction Engineering and Management; past Head, Division of Structural Engineering and Construction Management; past Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, and past Associate Dean for Teaching and Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Technion–IIT. Received his BSc, MSc, and DSc degrees in Civil Engineering from the Technion. After completing his degrees, spent one year as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under a grant from the US Air Force. Over the years he was also a Visiting Professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Accrued his practical experience as a project engineer and project manager in a general contracting firm prior to pursuing an academic career. Has taught construction equipment and formwork design in Israel and the United States since 1985, and authored or co-authored various texts addressing these subjects, including Peurifoy's Construction Planning, Equipment, and Methods (McGraw-Hill 2006, 2011, 2018, 2024), which was also translated into Chinese and Portuguese. Research has focused on construction engineering and management with concentration on building construction equipment (mainly tower cranes) selection, operation, productivity, and safety; and on multicriteria decision analysis and knowledge formalization in construction, civil, and environmental systems. Co-developer of an innovative crane-mounted video camera system that serves as an operator aid; this system has been used on most of the high-rise building projects built in Israel since 1998. Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and an active member of ACI Committee 347 Formwork for Concrete. Past Chair of Technical Committee 120 Formwork and Scaffolds of the Standard Institution of Israel and Chair of Expert Committee 120.1 Formwork Design of the SII, which developed and revise the new Israeli formwork standard. ENR Top-25 Newsmaker (2009), recipient of the ASCE Construction Management Award (2012) and the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management Best Paper Award (2013). Member, National Academy of Construction, USA. Recipient of the Yanai Prize for Excellence in Academic Education (Technion, 2019).
