Environmental Engineering

B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering

The aim of the Environmental Engineering program is to train and prepare professional personnel in the fields of environmental engineering, including scientific, technological, economical and management aspects of the preservation of the environment. This study program is shared with three faculties: Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology and Food Engineering. For registration in the Environmental Engineering tract, one should contact the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

The topics on environment and the preservation of its quality are one of the main and most important centers of attention that are of public interest in Israel and world-wide. For the graduates of the Environmental Engineering track, a wide variety of positions in the private, public, and government sectors are available, which include planning and design firms, industry, municipalities, governmental bodies, agricultural organizations, academic institutions, research institutes, etc.

The foremost topics are:

  • Preservation of the quality of water resources
  • Air pollution control
  • Treatment of sewage and sludge and reuse of treated water
  • Treatment, removal and recycling of solid wastes (garbage)
  • Improvement of industrial production methods for reducing pollution sources

Environmental Engineering is a 4-year program, including a wide scientific foundation, composed of the following subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science. Following the completion of the science basics, the student studies subjects that  are designed to provide him with the elementary  basis in all branches of environmental engineering. During this stage, the following subjects  are included: basic subjects in flow mechanics, hydrology, chemical engineering methods, treatment of sewage and wastes, soil  theory.
