Brief Biography

Graduated in Chemical Engineering (Universidad del Litoral, Argentina) and PhD degree in Biotechnology (Department of Biotechnology of Tel Aviv University, Israel) and Postdoc in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University, East Lansing (USA). Joined the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion, Haifa (Israel) in 2000, following 10 years of research and education in Environmental Biotechnology at Migal Research Institute/Tel Hai Academic College (Upper Galilee, Israel). Visiting/Guest Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California at Davis, USA (2006-2007), Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Barcelona, Spain (2016), Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies at Kyoto University, Japan and Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at University of Technology Sydney, Australia (2019).

Authored/co-authored above140 peer-reviewed research papers, review papers and books chapters and has 5 patents. Supervision of 50 graduate students (15 PhD and 35 MSc). Awarded the Shilo Prize in Environmental Microbiology by the Israeli Society for Microbiology in 2003. Editorial board of Bioresource Technology and Environment International (Elsevier). Member/head in different scientific and public boards, steering committees, review panels and professional societies and conferences organization and former Head of the Division of Environmental, Water and Agricultural Engineering at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Technion.
