Particle Flux Calculation

Feasibility study for calculating particle flux

Experimentation proof of feasibility for calculating particle flux by measuring suspended matter concentrations combined with flow velocity. The image shows a diver releasing a sediment cloud which will move under the influence of the current towards the measuring instruments which include three acoustic speedometers and two optical turbidity meters. The experiment was conducted in a framework that aims to develop a method for estimating the flow of buoyancy from biological activity. The research is being carried out as part of a master’s degree in water engineering by Nir Marom under the supervision of Prof. Uri Shavit (Technion) and Prof. Roi Holtzman (Tel Aviv University and the Eilat Inter-University Institute, pictured).
