Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering – Structures

The program is offered under the academic auspices of the division of structural engineering and construction management at the Technion’s Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering – historically the first of its kind in the country (and still leading). The teaching staff includes faculty members, international experts in research and practice, and leading practitioners.

Graduates of the program can also continue towards the Master’s and Doctor’s degrees. These higher studies involve advanced research and development of innovative directions in structural engineering and in related scientific fields.

Registration and licensing of engineers

The degree in structural engineering is recognized by the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor, and is the only one among those offered by the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, that qualifies for registration and subsequent licensing in the roll of structural engineers.

The professional career of the program graduates covers a variety of fields associated with the design and construction of structures and infrastructures, in Israel and throughout the world. The curriculum

The four-years program towards the degree in civil engineering – structural engineering starts with establishment of a sound scientific basis in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and the basics of civil engineering. In the sequel, the program offers basic and advanced courses in structural engineering and provides the student with the concepts and tools for structural design, strength- and stability analyses, foundation design, and design for wind and seismic loads. Emphasis is on development of analytical and judgmental skills and creative problem-solving techniques. To that end, the program combines analytical and technological courses with advanced courses in design, computational mechanics, and structural dynamics.
